MADRID, 2 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Valencia’s Portuguese striker Gonçalo Guedes, scorer of the winning goal against Athletic Club that gave them a spot in the Copa del Rey final, assured that it was “a great victory” and “deserved” and that being able to fight for a title is “good” for a wardrobe that does not have the best of seasons.
“The day was fantastic. The reception from the fans helped us a lot and we played a great game, we took advantage of getting ahead and then we held on to the result. It’s a great victory, the team was very good, we did what the coach asked of us and I think it’s deserved,” Guedes said at the ‘DAZN’ microphone.
The Portuguese acknowledged that at the time of the goal he believed that “shooting was the best opportunity” at that time. “I didn’t have many illusions, but it went well for me. I’m happy to have helped the team a lot,” he said.
Asked about the team’s style, the Valencian player stressed that “people talk a lot”, but that in the dressing room they dedicate themselves to “working daily to have the highest level and do their best”. “The best thing is to win and to be in the final is very good for us,” he added.
“This final is well deserved, especially for the fans. We also suffered a lot, but we have to get up and always try to give the fans joy,” said the Portuguese striker.
