Getafe shoots himself in the foot

Getafe and Sevilla had deactivated each other until, in the 80th minute, a cross into Suso's area was finished off at his own goal by Etxeita when his intention was to clear his head. A totally fortuitous misfortune threw the work of an hour and a half to the ground. A center to the area for the team that most often searched for the rival's home had its prize. Getafe, on the verge of relegation places. Sevilla, on the verge of entering the Champions League positions.

Fear of taking care of the vineyard or respect for the rival, the truth is that Bordalás defended his Getafe with a trivote of midfielders, leaving aside their traditional 4-4-2. Sevilla marked the starting ground. There was no continuity in the game but there were loose arrivals in the area. In the 19 minute, a direct free-kick from Jordán shook the crossbar with force when Soria was already overcome. Serious notice.

Bordalás and Lopetegui led the party to a war composed of many internal battles. That of Nyom with En Nesyri, that of Ocampos with Arambarri, that of Cucho and Acuña, a free-for-all that kept the two teams firm and that gave few options to scoring opportunities.

For the first time this season Getafe resembled what it was months ago in its most successful time: rocky, firm, secure in defense, with quick transitions. A recognizable Getafe. Sevilla also prioritized safety. They both wanted victory, but neither of them was hurt by the draw. The whole game was translated into one piece of information: the only chance to score in the entire first half was the shot at the crossbar from a direct foul. Getafe's best chance, an attempt by Arambarri to snipe, very forced, which prevented his teammate Olivera from shooting.

The second part seemed to shed more light. To begin with, thirty seconds after the restart Arambarri tried his luck from afar. His shot caught Bono without a problem. It was Getafe's first shot on goal. Again, it was a sporadic danger, without continuity. Sevilla had greater control of the ball, but their static advance was always met with a retracted Getafe.

Seeing that Sevilla did not bite him, Getafe began to loosen. They asked for a penalty for a fall by Arambarri in minute 67, which was nothing and Cucho appeared a couple of times. That created spaces in the back that En Nesyri was about to take advantage of by hunting a ball inside the area and finishing across the corner in the 72nd minute.

The game was decided, however, in that random play for one and unfortunate for the other. Soccer stuff.

Bordalás: “When we were better, the unfortunate goal came”

The Getafe coach regretted the defeat suffered by his team against Sevilla. He analyzed the meeting in the press room.

How do you rate the game?

The team did a good job for many minutes. Right now we are sad and reflecting on this match. When we were at our best, that unfortunate goal came that condemned us. I think defeat is unfair. They hardly generated any danger.

Are you worried about the losing streak the team is in?

The coach always worries about poor results, but right now we are focused on what is coming. We are looking forward to achieving a good result and we are thinking about the next match.

What do you think now from your position on squad performance?

I am the coach and the one in charge of getting the most out of this squad. That's my job. The results are not coming lately. We can only continue to work with more emphasis as we have done so far.

Why did you make so many changes in the end? Physical problems?

Cabaco ended up with problems and Arambarri had pain in the upper part of the knee. That's why the changes were.

Why was it the Ünal starter?

With the ownership of Ünal we were looking for characteristics different from those of Ángel. I think you have done a magnificent job.

They have gotten into trouble. Will they know how to compete at the bottom of the table?

It is true that we were not used to it, but each season is different and we must not forget that Getafe is a modest club.

Will you ask for signings in the winter market?

We will deal with the needs of the team internally.

Lopetegui: “We deserved to win, I have no doubt

The Sevilla coach marked the match against Getafe in the press room. He considers that his team's victory was fair.

Harder than expected match?

Yes it was a very difficult game. Getafe takes you to the limit and more in their field where they know the circumstances. They have decided to play back and take away spaces. We had to be patient and not make mistakes. I don't remember any of his occasions except Timor's shot and we have had clear situations.

How do you rate your team?

We have sincerely deserved to win. We have generated opportunities and in the end it has been as it has been.

Do they play to the limit with such fair results?

I'm not worried about winning one to zero, I'm worried about not winning. We got into the Champions League winning by the minimum. This is the Spanish League, where there are very few differences. Getafe had a great season playing the Europa League. I am worried about winning the game consecutively.

What did you think of O Campos' reaction to being replaced?

I do not give more importance and there is no problem. We made the change to try to win the game looking for more offensive presence and in the area.

What did you talk to Bordalás?

We have wished each other luck. He is a great coach who brings out great performance from his teams.
