German Felix Brych whistles Manchester City-Real Madrid

UEFA has appointed 45-year-old German Felix Brych to referee the Champions League round of 16 second leg between Manchester City and Real Madrid this Friday 7 (21:00, Movistar Champions League) behind closed doors at Etihad. The VAR referee is also German Bastian Dankert.

Brych, who was the referee who directed the twelfth final against Juventus, will whistle for the third consecutive season to the white team in the second leg match of the Champions League. He already did it two seasons ago in Paris against PSG (1-2) and repeated last season on the fateful night against Ajax at the Bernabéu (1-4). This is precisely the only defeat that Madrid has suffered in the nine games that Brych has refereed him, with whom he has a balance of six wins and two draws.

For his part, for Manchester City the balance is not so rosy when the German has led his games. Brych has whistled four games for the skyblue and the English have only won one and lost in the other three.

A compatriot and namesake from Brych will whistle the other game of the maximum continental competition that takes place on Friday. Felix Zwayer will be in charge of managing Juventus-Lyon, with Christian Dingert at the VAR. The French team leaves with the advantage of 1-0 harvested in the first leg.
