Francisco Gento, winner of six European Cups with Real Madrid and who died last January, the women’s water polo team, the San Silvestre Vallecana or the tennis players Martín de la Puente and Daniel Caverzaschi are among the winners at the IX edition of the María de Villota Awards and in the XI of the City of the Racquet Awards that will be delivered on November 8.

The jury of the IX edition of the María de Villota Awards recognized both Francisco Gento and his Gento-Llorente family saga in its Sports Career category, “a unique example worldwide of a family dedicated to elite sport in different generations”, pointed out from the organization.

On the other hand, the Sporting Feat Award went to the Spanish women’s water polo team, which this past summer was proclaimed champion of Europe, its eighth medal in the last ten years in a major international competition.
