Gavi trains with Barça as normal

The midfielder broke his knee in November 2023 and is now one step away from being given the all-clear

BARCELONA, 12 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona player Gavi is now closer to overcoming the serious knee injury he suffered in November last year and, in a further step in his recovery, after returning to work on the field in June, he carried out his first training session with the group this Thursday, together with some teammates who, like his new coach, the German Hansi Flick, will soon be expecting him on the pitch.

On the club’s social media, Gavi was seen entering the ‘tunnel’ welcoming his teammates, in a video in which the ‘culer’ team confirmed the midfielder’s return to group training, the penultimate step before being able to receive medical clearance.

The Blaugrana ‘6’ suffered a serious injury last November 2023 during a training camp with Spain, in what was the last match of the qualifying phase for last summer’s European Championship, which was won by the Spanish team.

Since then, the player has worked “hard and in the shadows” to recover from the complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and the associated injury to the external meniscus suffered on November 19.

Although the club has not set a time limit for his absence, it could be between 8 and 10 months, so the most optimistic estimates suggest his recovery will take place in September, perhaps in October or at the latest in November.

For the moment, after starting to step on the grass in June and returning to the group this Thursday, in mid-September, with normal work at a physical level and ball exercises, he is already one step away from being available for Flick, in what would be a high-level ‘signing’ for the new Blaugrana coach.
