MADRID, 6 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The French Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly (Alpine) confessed that he signed for the French team “with a very open mind” and “excited” with this new “adventure” in which he sees “potential” to be ahead, although there is “much work to do.”
“I am very excited about this season and this new project and adventure with Alpine. There is a lot of work to do because obviously it is a big change and you have to get used to the team, the new people, the way of working but for now I am very happy and with you win,” said the pilot in statements provided by Hawkers, after the latest launch of the ‘Seek the horizon’ collection, the third he has designed for the international brand.
Gasly maintained that the team is “working very hard and making a great effort” to continue progressing and generate “an automated workflow.” “A mechanism that is ours and that is effective as it was in the past. The reception that Alpine gave me made me very happy and little by little we are noticing progress from the beginning of the year until now,” he celebrated.
“The expectations are high but I came with a very open mind because when you are used to a way of working and you change everything, it is clear that things are different and it requires adaptation. I am very happy with the potential that I have seen in the team in terms of facilities, people and tools available from the beginning of the year”, explained the pilot about his arrival at the French team.
The Frenchman lamented the “slightly slower initial adaptation”, which had an impact on the first results. “I would have liked to start more in the front group and we have been in the middle of the table but little by little we have been progressing and making good progress. It is time to continue in this line and progress and improve race after race”, he wished.
“For me Melbourne has been one of the best so far, plus it’s a special place. It was a very tough weekend because we were in fifth place, very close to the podium at the time and I think we carried out a good strategy and good pace. We were close to achieving a good result but unfortunately we lost all options in the last two laps”, he chose as his best race.
For Gasly, Monaco “was also a great weekend”, albeit “a bit disappointing”. “In performance, we showed that we can fight for the top five places, and that’s very positive. Also, for the first time there were 15 drivers in 7-tenths at some point, which shows that everything is really tight,” he concluded.
