MADRID, 14 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish cyclists Sergio Garrote (H2) and Gonzalo García Abella (T1) have won two new bronze medals in their respective road races at the Baie-Comeau Adapted Cycling World Championship (Canada), some metals that raise the number of medals for the Spanish team at the event.

In H2, the handbiker Sergio Garrote, after winning the time trial, also sought to become world champion on the road. The race was a matter of three from the start, with the Frenchman Florian Jouanny, the Italian Luca Mazzone and Garrote himself as protagonists, taking turns in the lead.

In the final meters, Garrote launched the attack, but was overwhelmed by Mazzone and Jouanny, who was proclaimed champion by a few inches.

For his part, in T1, Gonzalo García fought for second position throughout the race with Canadian Nathan Clement, with Farroni intractable in first place. However, the Spaniard couldn’t keep up with Clement’s pace on the last lap and finished third, adding another bronze after Thursday’s time trial. For his part, a fall by Joan Reinoso (T2) in the early stages of the race deprived the Spaniard of fighting for the medals.

Finally, in H3, Luis Miguel García-Marquina from Cuenca finished fifth, while in H4 Martín Berchesi could not finish after suffering a breakdown in his handbike in the first few laps.
