Gabriel Marcelli competed in Madrid and Barcelona with a fracture in his right foot

MADRID, 13 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

Spanish trial rider Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda) hopes to be ready for the start of the Spanish Championship later this month after competing in the Madrid and Barcelona Indoor World Championships with a broken right foot.

As reported by his team on Wednesday, the Galician was injured after suffering a fall in the second round of the X-Trial in Madrid on April 2, but “despite the pain”, he was able to finish the race and finish second.

Marcelli underwent medical tests last week in Barcelona by the team doctor, Dr. Joaquim Terricabras, in which it was noted that he had suffered “a non-displaced marginal fracture of the base of the first metatarsal of the right foot.” The pilot began a conservative treatment that allowed him to participate in the Barcelona X-Trial last weekend.

“The evolution of the injury will mark the return of Gabriel Marcelli to training, although the Repsol Honda Team rider is expected to participate in the opening round of the Spanish Trial Championship that will take place in the Galician town of Arteixo on the 23rd and 24 of this month of April”, remarked his team.
