FUTPRO asks to change the culture in football organizations so that they “bet more on women’s football”

MADRID, 9 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The FUTPRO union, specialized only in women’s football, considers that a change in the culture of the main football institutions is still necessary so that they finally “bet more” on this modality in Spain.

“From FUTPRO we fight daily to reach a point of equality and seeking a change of culture in soccer institutions where women’s soccer is made more visible and bets more on it,” said Amanda Gutiérrez, president of the newly created union, in a press release.

The leader recalled that on March 8, International Women’s Day, “every year it has more repercussions in the different spheres of society” and for this reason the union wanted to “recognize the work” of the soccer players and “take advantage of this day to continue asking for the much-needed changes that are needed at this time”.

“When we look at Spanish women’s football, thanks to the support of sponsoring companies and public bodies, it has been possible to project a stable business model, but that does not have to lead us astray, since it is still a long way away not only from the discipline but it is still a long way from countries like France or the United States, where women’s football enjoys a solid social and especially economic foothold,” Gutiérrez remarked.

For her part, the soccer player for FC Barcelona and the Spanish team Andrea Pereira, one of the founders of FUTPRO, pointed out that this union was born because the players were looking for “a change” in this aspect.

“We have found the best solution, to create one that was born from us. We believe that FUTPRO looks after our interests and seeks to give us the place we deserve,” said the central, general secretary of FUTPRO.
