From Anne Igartiburu to Begoña Gómez: Spanish celebrities and leaders cut their hair to support Iranian women

The women of Iran have been protesting for days and demanding justice for Masha Believethe young woman who died in police custody on September 16 after being arrested for wearing the wrong veil in Tehran.

Since then, women activists, businesswomen, politicians, singers, and actresses from around the world have released videos of themselves cutting locks of hair in solidarity with Iranian women.

Some leaders of our country have also done so. Last Wednesday, October 5, the Swedish MEP of Iraqi origin Abir Al-Sahlani he cut his hair with scissors in the middle of a debate in the European Parliament. “Until Iran is free, our fury will be greater than that of the oppressor,” claimed the parliamentarian, who also criticized Joseph Borrellrepresentative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, for not having defended the position of Iranian women in the recent meeting of the Assembly of the United Nations.

The gesture of the Spanish leaders and the MEP is added to that of other public figures such as Juliette Binoche, Marion Cotillardor Isabelle Huppert who have shared a video in which they appear cutting their hair under the slogan “For freedom” and with the anthem Hello beautiful background.
