France sweeps Poland and enters the Eurobasket final through the front door

MADRID, 16 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The French team is the first finalist of Eurobasket 2022, securing its first medal since 2015 after overwhelming Poland in a match where they had no rival and finished with a historic 41-point lead, with a final score of 54-95 that allows them to oppose the favorite in the match for the title.

The performance of the French was practically dreamlike. All of his players, the 12 that Vincent Collet has taken to Germany, scored at least one basket. In defense they left Poland with only 18 points in the entire first half and in attack they overwhelmed, with two quarters of 30 and 31 points. The one who stood out the most was Real Madrid player Guerschon Yabusele, who excelled in attack, scoring 22 points and hitting four triples in just six attempts.

Rudy Gobert was once again imperial on defense, blocking three shots, and center Moustapha Fall, who also reached that number, did so adding ten rebounds. Precisely the statistics in this section say it all, since Poland only captured 21 in the entire match, for France’s 40.

In the ranks of the Poles, their stars were completely overshadowed by the French, and they did not find any way to score throughout the game. Mateusz Ponitka, who had just astonished Europe with his triple-double against Slovenia, barely scored seven points and ended up with a negative evaluation due to the number of missed shots. AJ Slaughter, meanwhile, scored two triples in the first quarter, another in the second and did not see the hoop again throughout the game, despite the fact that in the tournament he had made three games over 20 points.

With the game practically sentenced to rest, France played free and had fun, something that had not happened in the tournament. The confidence of all the players grew to the point that practically all of them had their individual moment to shine, whether it was from the 3-point range or from defense. In fact, all 12 participated and the one who played the least was Theo Maledon, who was on court for more than eight minutes. Now the French national team, after this exhibition of power, arrives launched to a final in which, by squad, they will be favorites regardless of their rival.
