Four years of Murthy, the presidency of disaffection

Anil Murthy is serving one term as president of Valencia. On July 1, 2017 he replaced Layhoon Chan and four years later he is still there. The 1,461 days that he has been in office make him the longest-serving president of the Sociedad Anónima Deportiva Y the club's history room after the 19 years of management of Luis Casanova and the seven of Ramos Costa and Arturo Tuzón. But Murthy will be remembered differently from them.

Murthy has won detractors in Valencia at the rate that Ibai Llanos I like you on social media, although it doesn't seem to bother him. According to his own reflections and his way of seeing things, the majority who are against its management and against property Meriton Holdings are “fake fans” and many of them creators of “fakes news”. But the more than 7000 fans who demonstrated on May 8 were flesh and blood.

Murthy is leaving irrevocable gestures for his legacy, how to silence the Mestalla fans; controversial decisions, like the 64 days that the networks have been covered of the club and that prevent the interaction of the fans, or irritating phrases, such as “cat scalded from cold water flees”, in a letter by way of explanation of the dismissal of Mateu Alemany and Marcelino.

Lim's decision to break the pillars of a Valencia that had just been champion marks a before and after in life by Valencia de Murthy. Of the days of wine and roses, of Champions League nights and cup celebrations, to be in nobody's zone and even flirt with the descent. The consequences of these last two exercises is a worrying disaffection of the fans and a disturbing structural dwarfing of a storied club.

“You have to assume that your boss is not going to change and you have two options: adapt or change jobs.” The phrase is from Murthy, who blends in with every message that comes to him from Lim. 'Sell, sell; don't sign, don't sign. ' It does not matter that the technician on duty said Diego and then I say. Valencia stopped paying attention to the unwritten codes of football. Perhaps that is why Parejo held a Europa League just 60 kilometers from Mestalla after leaving for free.

But Murthy is a perfect employee for Lim and hence his four years, more when the opposition to his management in Valencia is louder than wealthy and even less to put them. Only the judicial process undertaken by the LibertadVCF platform seems to worry them based on the failed attempt by Meriton's lawyers to delegitimize him before the judge. Thus, without a real Valencian purchase offer, confident in the club that politicians will end up extending the ATE of Mestalla, Murthy executes Lim's plan under the umbrella of the crisis and the mantra that the club has to be “sustainable”, trusting that with Bordalás the results will arrive that will relativize the return of the public to Mestalla.

Murthy begins his fifth year with a Valencia made for him. 35 settlements have cost the club's coffers to have it. Miguel Ángel Corona's room for maneuver is zero, because only Murthy messages with Lim; At the Academia de Paterna he is headed by a person he trusts, Sean Bai; At the VCF Foundation, Teo Swee Wai has just been appointed director; and the communication and administrative management is supervised by Joey Lim, of whom it was said when he arrived in Valencia that he did it to replace Murthy and follows a step below. Not even the Prince of Johor moved his chair.
