Four Spanish teams advance to the final day of the 51st Princesa Sofía Mallorca

MADRID, 8 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

The penultimate day of the 51 Princesa Sofía Mallorca completed this Friday the selection of the teams that will compete for the title, already reducing the options to a handful of chosen ones and with four Spanish teams in the fight, the favorites being the Catalans Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman in 470 Mixed.

Pilar Lamadrid (second in iQFOiL Women) and the tandem Diego Botín and Florian Trittel (fourth in the 49er) will also compete on Saturday with options to aspire to victory in the bay of Palma.

The fifth day of mixed 470 class competition was resolved with two tests in each group, with Xammar and Brugman consolidating a deserved leadership in the Gold Group by adding their fourth partial victory of the week and a fifth. Meanwhile, Diego Botín and Florian Trittel entered the Medal Race fourth in the 49er class.

In 49erFX, it was enough for the Dutch Odile Van Aanholt and Annette Duetz to sign some partials of 1+6+4 to close the battle with the double Olympic champions Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, and they have secured the title after leading 20 points to the Brazilian ones.

In iQFOiL, among the Spanish participants, the Sevillian Pilar Lamadrid arrived at port this Friday as second classified in the women’s category, which guarantees her to compete directly in the semifinal. Meanwhile, Gisela will fight for a place in the first Formula Kite final in the history of the Princesa Sofía Mallorca.

The Nacra 17 crowned the Olympic champions, the Italians Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti, while the Canadian Sarah Douglas needed a sixth and a first to confirm her absolute victory in ILCA 6. The reduction of the fleet will concentrate the action in four regatta areas this Saturday from 11:30.
