Sunday was the first time since Lincoln Riley took over as coach that USC fell out of The Associated Press’s college football poll.

At the same time, No. 15 Oklahoma State jumped into the rankings making its debut this year.

The top nine teams among the Top 25 stayed where they were, with Georgia staying at No. 1. With 21 straight weeks at the top of the poll, the Bulldogs are now tied for second-longest in the history of the poll. This started in the middle for last season.

Georgia got 49 points for first place. Michigan got a total of nine first-place votes, Ohio State got three, and Florida State got two.

We are now in second place. Washington stayed in fifth place, with Oregon, Texas, Alabama, or Penn State following.

The poll’s top nine teams haven’t moved since November 19, 2017, which is nine months ago. Ole Miss jumped up one spot to No. 10, which is the highest it has been all season.

On Saturday night, USC (7-3) lost to Washington in another high-scoring, defense-optional game. They are now unranked after beginning the season at No. 6.

Alex Grinch was fired as defensive coordinator by the Trojans on Sunday after giving up 49 points or more within back-to-back games.
