The Executive Committee of the UEFA, meeting this Wednesday, has delayed, as had already been advanced on Tuesday, the official announcement of the format of the new Champions
League until next April 19.
However, this body has adopted various measures, among which the maintenance of the five
substitutions in the final phase of the Eurocup to be played this summer, leave it to the national authorities the limit of public in the stadiums, open the possibility that the European finals (Champions and Europa League) dispute with fans in the stands, as well as the places assigned to Europe for the 2022 Women's U-20 World Cup, one of which is for Spain due to the current ranking.
These are the main decisions adopted by this body.
The five changes are maintained
Allow use of up to five changes in Euro 2020, in the Final Phase of the UEFA Nations League 2021 and in their matches to decide relegation. The norm is in force in the national and international calendars, as well as in the qualifying rounds for the Qatar World Cup 2022.
Public: national authorities decide
The Committee has reviewed its decision of last October 1, by which it allowed the return of spectators to the matches with until the 30% of capacity of the stadiums. Now, and taking into account that each Federation faces a different situation in the fight against the pandemic, said limit is no longer necessary: the decision on the number of viewers allowed must be sole responsibility of local authorities competent.
So, attendance limit is abolished of spectators imposed by UEFA of a maximum of 30% of the capacity of the corresponding stadium, as well as the prohibition of spectators from attending futsal matches.
Instead, the ban on visiting fans attend UEFA competition matches. This is valid until before of the celebration of club competition finals which will take place in May 2021, with which this body leaves open the possibility of there being fans in the Champions League and Europa League finals.
Spain, to the U-20 Women's World Cup
On the other hand, and following the decision of the Executive Committee of February 23, 2021 to cancel the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship 2020/21, which serves as qualification for the Cup FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2022 In Costa Rica, it was decided to use the 2020/21 qualifying round coefficient ranking list to determine the teams that will represent Europe in the competition. The classified teams are, therefore, in order of classification, Spain, France, Germany and the Netherlands.
The new Champions, on April 19
Finally, the UEFA Executive Committee, in agreement with the ECA and representatives of the European Leagues, has delayed until next April 19 the announcement of the new format of club competitions organized by this body, with the Champions as the main tournament.
