FIFA sanctions Malaga without being able to sign until 2023

Hard setback for Malaga. FIFA has sanctioned him not to be able to sign until summer 2023, that is, in three windows, for a debt denounced by the Turkish goalkeeper Cenk Gönen of 780,000 euros. The club will also have to assume another 80,000 euros in interest.

The Malaguista entity is going to pay the amount owed and is preparing a letter before the highest body of world football and is informing itself to study whether it is possible to file an appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS). Sources consulted by AS assure that the matter is “controlled”.

Cenk Gönen signed in 2017 when Málaga got rid of Kameni, who went to Fenerbahçe and had to pay € 200,000 to Galatasaray. One of the biggest pufos that have arrived at La Rosaleda, he barely played three friendly matches where he was disastrous and Míchel, the then coach, put his hands to his head because of how bad it was. It did not make its official debut.

Málaga is judicially administered by José María Muñoz and has won the complaints filed by some players fired by the ERE formula. Cengo, as he was known, did not accept the unilateral exit decreed by the club and has presented the aforementioned complaint, the outcome of which is a setback for Malaga.
