Ferrovial has been selected by Aena to undertake one of the expansion works of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. The multinational, through Ferrovial Agroman, has been awarded the contract for the construction of the remote platform of the T4S, at the Madrid airfield. The company will execute the works for an amount of 43.2 million euros.
Ferrovial has imposed itself on seven other proposals by submitting a 39.64% decrease – the largest of all – with respect to the base bidding budget, which amounted to 71.6 million euros. The group led by Rafael del Pino and Ignacio Madridejos has exceeded the offers of Acciona Construcción, OHL, Dragados and Vías y Construcciones (both subsidiaries of ACS and who attended individually), the UTE (temporary union of companies) of FCC Construcción and Ciser, Padecasa and Constructora Sanjose and Sacyr Infraestructuras and Conelsan.
The project will have an execution period of 16 months and is aimed at construction of a remote platform in the T4S terminal for aircraft parking up to category F. This action will occupy an area of about 298,100 square meters in which, among other works, the execution of an aircraft parking platform with six new positions, five type E and one type F. Each of These positions can be split into two Type C positions; the construction of a taxiway; the execution of a new access road to north-south posts and the provision of a surface for services handling of 6,185 square meters.
Aena has a plan in place to expand the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport, which in the coming years will require investments of more than 2,000 million euros.
