Fernando Vicente, nominated for best coach of the year

The Spanish Fernando Vicente is one of the five nominees for the best coach of the year 2020 award within the ATP Awards, which recognize the best of the season in many facets of the tennis world.

Vicente has contributed decisively to the great 2020 season of Andrey Rublev, who this year has made a leap towards the tennis elite at 23 years old, as evidenced by his titles won in Doha, Adelaide, Hamburg, Saint Petersburg and Vienna, which have also allowed him for the first time in his career to enter the Top-10 of the classification (he currently occupies eighth place) and play his first Nitto ATP Finals.

The Spanish coach will not have it easy to get the award, since among the nominees they also appear the names of Gilles Cervara, the coach of Daniil Medvedev (winner of the 1,000 Masters in Paris and the Nitto ATP Finals), the Chilean Nicolás Massú, coach of Dominic Thiem (champion of the US Open), Juan Ignacio Chela, coach of Diego Schwartzman, and Riccardo Piatti, coach of the very young Jannik Sinner, one of the great revelations of the 2020 season at 19 years old.
