Fernando Soriano, new sports director of Dépor

MADRID, 16 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Deportivo de La Coruña announced this Friday the hiring of Fernando Soriano as the club’s new sports director, two days after the resignation of the Board of Directors and the dismissal of coach Rubén de la Barrera.

“Fernando Soriano is the first piece of the main project currently being worked on: the creation of the new team that will manage the club’s professional sports area, a team that will be completed next week,” says the official statement.

Soriano, a former soccer player for Recreativo de Huelva, Real Zaragoza, Osasuna and UD Almería, began his career off the pitch as coach of the Almería team in 2016-17. The man from Zaragoza made the leap from the bench to the office in December 2018 when he joined UD Ibiza as sports director, a position he held with the Balearic team until April last year.

The Riazor team issued another statement this Friday to convey to its entire social mass “a message of tranquility and confidence in the club’s project.” “The solvency and strength of the professional structure of RC Deportivo allows the entity to maintain its normal operation in all areas and that there is no type of alteration,” says Dépor.
