MADRID 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) acknowledged a tough stop on the calendar this week at the United States Grand Prix, where he was slow in the sprint and also in the race this Sunday, thirteenth, while trusting that the analysis of what happened allows them to improve in the face of Mexico.
“I started well, in turn one I got a little stuck and in the fast corners I also lost some position. We knew that the start and lap one didn’t matter, after 57 you ended up in your natural position, which today was 14. No It’s a surprise, the surprise was to come out eighth,” he said in statements to Dazn.
The double world champion was disappointed with the lack of improvement of the Aston Martin despite all the changes. “We stayed with that, we were slow in the sprint and today, there is a lot to analyze for Mexico. We tell the team what the car is missing and then the team does what it can. It’s not that they want to not improve it. We have found some obstacle during a large part of the season, analyzing the new package we will try to improve,” he added.
Alonso insisted that they will have to make an effort to improve ahead of Mexico next week, one of the five races remaining in a discreet season, not like last. “It has been a difficult weekend and we have to raise the level, I hope we achieve it,” he concluded.
