Fernando Alonso, “very happy” and ironic after being fourth in Baku

MADRID, 30 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) has been “very happy” after finishing fourth in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, fourth round of the Formula 1 World Cup, and used irony to answer questions from DAZN, which he considers to be “other opinion and other interests”.

“I’m happy, very happy,” he answered concisely before the DAZN microphone. “Let’s see what the future holds, but there on the set they will have another opinion and other interests. But I’m happy,” continued the Spaniard, before leaving the interview area.

Surprised, the presenter of the post-race on DAZN, Noemí de Miguel, picked up the baton from the two-time world champion. “We are happy, no interest. We are happy after seeing the evolution and the overtaking,” she said.

Formula 1 narrator and post-race commentator Antonio Lobato offered further clues as to why Alonso’s sarcastic comment. “I think I know who this little message is for. We had a little discussion on WhatsApp for a story. Different point of view? Yes, nothing out of this world, they are Fernando’s usual things, who throws you the ‘pullita’ as a joke from a distance, nothing serious. They are different ways of expressing an opinion on some issues,” he said.

The key could be in the perception of the DAZN commentators, especially Lobato himself, of the incident between the Asturian and Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) in the sprint race on Saturday; Alonso complained that the man from Madrid had closed him against the wall, something in which they did not agree from the chain.
