Fernando Alonso: “It wasn’t fun driving today, making a mistake was too easy”

MADRID, 1 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) acknowledged this Saturday that “it has not been easy to drive” during qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix, the seventeenth round of the World Championship, due to the changing conditions on the track, so “committing a mistake was too easy”, however, the Spaniard warned that “something always happens” in Marina Bay and urged to “dream” with the podium.

“I’m very satisfied (with fifth place), it’s incredible, but it wasn’t fun driving today. Making a mistake was too easy and getting the most out of the car was super complicated. A difficult time, but saved,” analyzed the Spaniard in statements to DAZN after qualification.

The Asturian, who came first in some moments of Q3, will start fifth at Marina Bay, a circuit where he won in 2008 and 2010. The strategy for this Sunday will be to “cover” McLaren to “finish in front of them”. “I hope to finish in the Top 5. With Max (Verstappen) behind it means practically coming out sixth. We are not that far from the podium, why not dream, something always happens in Singapore,” he settled on his options to get on the box.
