Fernando Alonso: “I haven’t felt very good, we have to take a step forward”

MADRID, 6 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) acknowledged that he did not feel “very good” this week at the Miami Grand Prix, where he finished ninth this Sunday with “luck” to score but waiting for a “step forward” in Imola .

“Tough (race), we were not very fast. We came out hard trying to extend the first part and we were lucky with the safety car, which came out at the right time and we recovered many positions. Then I had the mediums with more grip than Ocon” , he said in statements to Dazn, collected by Europa Press.

The double world champion confessed his luck in taking advantage of the safety car, although he also made good overtakes, and began to think about the next stop of the World Cup. “We were lucky and thanks to that we got two points, happy for Lando Norris too,” he said.

“In Imola we will try to have a better weekend. We have started the year fifth, more or less, as a team, but here in Miami we were even further behind. We have to take a step forward, everyone is taking it. In Imola we have some improvement and I hope it puts us back close to Mercedes,” he added.

“They are all important (the points), we continue with the streak, but we have been regular, I have not felt very good either. I am left with a slightly bitter taste,” he concluded.
