Female tennis players will be allowed to wear dark colored underwear at Wimbledon starting next year

LONDON, 17 Nov. (PA Media/dpa/EP) –

The players who participate in Wimbledon will be able to wear dark-colored underwear from next year, thus making the All England Tennis Club change one of its traditions of wearing completely white and not have so much concern on menstruation days.

Executive director Sally Bolton recalled that they are “committed to supporting the players and listening to their feedback on how they can perform at their best” and that after several consultations they had decided to “update the white dress rule at Wimbledon”.

“This means that, starting next year, women and girls competing in The Championships will have the option of wearing colored undergarments if they choose. We hope this will help players focus solely on their performance by alleviating a potential source of anxiety,” he acknowledged.
