Felipe VI and Mrs. Letizia express their “concern and regret” about the fires in the city of Los Angeles

Absolute normality. Two very important events in four days have brought together the Kings and the President of the Government. Military Easter, on Monday the 6th, and the reception for diplomats accredited in Spain, this Thursday the 9th.

Every year, the January institutional agenda marks these two solemn dates for Felipe VI and Mrs. Letizia as a return to work. Coincidentally, yesterday, January 8, the first inaugural event organized by the Government took place in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Franco’s death. The call, at the Reina Sofia, which has been politicized by all political forces, was attended by the Executive. The King, as reported, did not attend due to scheduling problems. A circumstance that caused Zarzuela to come forward to emphasize that there is “total harmony” between the King and the President of the Government. In addition, it was highlighted that the monarch will join other events scheduled for this commemoration, such as one on the role of the establishment of democracy.

In his speech at the reception to the diplomats, the monarch returned to Valencia and remembered those affected by DANA. “We want – he stressed – to convey our solidarity to France, for the recent catastrophe that occurred on the island of Mayotte; and also to express our deepest condolences for those who died a few days ago in a devastating earthquake in the county of Tingri, in China, as well as “our concern and regret for the fires that the Californian city of Los Angeles, in the United States, is still suffering today.”

He has also pointed out challenges such as terrorism: “One of the greatest threats to the achievements and rights achieved in terms of justice, security and freedoms. No terrorist act has justification or place in our societies.” The monarch has expressed “the most absolute rejection of the attacks perpetrated a few weeks ago at the Magdeburg Christmas market and in New Orleans. The scourge of terrorism requires strengthening international cooperation as the only effective way to combat this threat to global security.”

The dress code of the event

This reception of the Kings to the diplomats, which took place at the Royal Palace of Madrid, is a solemn event that requires gala etiquette: morning suits for men and long dresses for women. We have seen Felipe VI, in a morning suit and wearing the Golden Fleece. Doña Letizia has created a set for the occasion of nuclear white shirt with a Klein blue full skirt in a light, airy tulle. She repeats the white blouse with long skirt formula, which we already saw on her trip to Italy with the King and which brought her such good reviews. On that occasion, in Naples, she wore a wonderful piece from The 2nd Skin Co (a Spanish brand that she really likes). A format, this one of the white blouse for gala events, that takes us yes or yes to the trend established by Carolina Herrera, a great lover of this combination.
