Felipe, Letizia and their daughters make a ‘smoke bomb’ in Mallorca and begin their private vacation in their favorite destination

The royal family has had an unusual holiday marked by the Olympic Games, which they have visited in turns. First, Leonor and Sofia were in charge of supporting the Spanish delegations in Paris, followed by their mother and then their father, who now hands over the baton to his mother for the final closing, on the 11th. As things stand, we have only been able to see the four of them together once last Sunday, when they enjoyed a dinner at the Mía restaurant accompanied by the emeritus, Aunt Pecu and some family friends. After the ‘girls’ afternoon’ that Letizia, her daughters and her mother-in-law had last Wednesday, many were hoping for a last outing with Felipe, a happy family scene that is now common every year, but we are going to stay with the desire: the family has left Mallorca.

The king and queen and their daughters are no longer on the Balearic island. After the monarch’s return from Paris, they packed their bags to enjoy a holiday destination away from the media spotlight, a location that, like other years, is not officially revealed because it is “private” but which, according to Mariángel Alcázar, would be Greecethe emeritus’s homeland.

This is not the first time that Felipe and Letizia have rested in the Hellenic paradise. In 2018, for example, they chose the island of Mykonos to unwind and relax with Leonor and Sofia. They walked through the white, cobbled streets like mere tourists, passing unnoticed among the crowd, a real luxury for the queen, who cannot stand the horde of photographers and journalists who follow her around Mallorca every year.

King Felipe will be in Greece until the 13th, when he will travel to the Dominican Republic to attend the inauguration of the new president, and it is possible that Letizia and her daughters will extend their break a little longer. They have to recharge their batteries for the new course that awaits them: on August 29, Infanta Sofía begins the second year of the International Baccalaureate at the Atlantic College in Wales, while her sister Leonor enters, that same day, the Naval School of Marín, where she will begin her second year of military training.
