Facsa-Playas de Castellón, champion of the Iberdrola Cup and the Joma Athletics Cup

The Facsa-Playas club from Castellón took center stage this Saturday at the Iberdrola Cup and the Joma Athletics Cup in Antequera, by proclaiming themselves Spanish club champions in the women's and men's categories.

The Castellón team won the Iberdrola Short Track Cup three years later, their third title after 2020 and 2021, in an exciting final against the great dominators of this competition, Valencia Club Atletismo.

The new champions were adding many points thanks to the triumphs of Carmen Avilés in 400 meters, Belén Toimil in weight (17.89 m), Blanca Fernández winning the 1,500 and with the second places of Marta Mitjans (800), Paula Sevilla (200) and Laura Santos (3,000).

On the other hand, in the Joma Cup, Facsa-Playas de Castellón won its sixth title with authority, with a total of 84 points and leaving FC Barcelona, ​​which had won the last three titles, in second position with ten points.

The champions forged their victory in the victories of Manuel Guijarro (47.37 in 400 meters), Adrià Alfonso (21.41 in 200 meters) and the final victory with Abderrahman El Khayami (3:43.49 in 1,500 meters). Lester Lescay (8.00 in length) and the 4x400m finish with Manuel Guijarro prevented Barça from coming back.

In the Catalan team, the presence of the Spanish triple record holder Jordán Díaz stood out, in his return to the competition after a year of injuries, which he won with 17.37, the minimum for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
