MADRID, 14 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Espanyol and Valencia drew (1-1) this Saturday in the penultimate round of LaLiga Santander, held at the RCDE Stadium, a distribution of points without much history, between two teams with nothing at stake and already planning their next season.
Without incentives and with a certain weariness for a year of little enjoyment, the match was far from brilliant. After the dismissal of coach Vicente Moreno the day before, the ‘parakeet’ team started cold, but Valencia’s chances and the whistles from the stands woke him up in part.
The local reaction did not translate into arrivals since Valencia was well planted. Before the break the goals came, from Maxi Gómez for the ‘che’ and Raúl de Tomás for the Catalans. The restart brought again a game with little intensity. Valencia ended up forgiving on recent occasions, but both seemed to ask for the time not this Saturday but this course.
Those of José Bordalás, despite reaching the Copa del Rey final, once again showed the shortcomings of a team that needs investment and Espanyol is an unknown, with the change of direction of the board by dispensing with Moreno and the sports director Rufete.
