Eriksen returns to a Denmark roster nine months after suffering cardiac arrest at EURO

LONDON, 15 Mar. (PA Media / dpa / EP) –

Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen is the big news on his country’s squad for the friendlies of this upcoming international break, a return that comes just nine months after suffering a cardiac arrest during EURO 2020 and having returned to play a few weeks ago with the English Brentford.

The footballer gave the big scare when he fainted on the pitch during the match against Finland last June and was dead according to doctors for five minutes before being revived. After recovering, a defibrillator was implanted that has allowed him to continue his sports career, now in the Premier League after separating from Italian Inter Milan.

Eriksen signed for modest Brentford last January and reappeared on the pitch at the end of February. The midfielder has already played full games with his new team and that has been enough for coach Kasper Hjulmand to call him up for the friendlies against the Netherlands and Serbia on the 26th and 29th of this month.
