Eriksen: “It was nice to play with Cristiano Ronaldo, but football continues”

MADRID, 28 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen highlighted Cristiano Ronaldo’s “special legacy” at the club and acknowledged that “it was nice” to play alongside the Portuguese, but at the same time stated that “football continues”, in relation to the departure of the Portuguese of the entity before the World Cup.

“First of all we are sad that Ronaldo is no longer part of United, his legacy and his name at any club is special, for me it was very nice to be lucky enough to play with him,” Eriksen said.

However, after the praise, the Dane made it clear that “football continues”, also after the agreement between Ronaldo and the club to terminate his contract. “You feel like the next game people will forget about the past and now our focus is on the team, without him,” he said.

“The atmosphere is good, we have a lot of people who are coming back from the World Cup, and everyone is coming together. Winning games helps this, also before we went to the World Cup we played good games and good victories and that makes it easier to come back.” he added about the team dynamics.

And one of those who has returned best from the World Cup is Marcus Rashford, scoring in the win (3-0) against Nottingham Forest, in the first game ‘post Ronaldo’. “He has played very well, luckily I haven’t been on the field yet and he has had a bad game. He looks sharp and confident. You feel it in the stadium and in him, it’s something beautiful and I hope it continues like this”, he wished the dane on the striker.
