The centre-back, suspended against Getafe, could not play again this season
BARCELONA, 12 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Blaugrana Eric Garcia will have to undergo surgery this Friday to treat an injury to his right thumb suffered on Thursday, so the Martorell center-back, who was suspended for this weekend’s duel, may not play again this season.
“The first team player Eric Garcia has an injury to the thumb of his right hand that requires surgical treatment. The player will be operated on tomorrow by Dr. Xavier Mir under the supervision of the club’s medical services,” the entity announced in a release.
To know the time off, you will have to wait until Friday, when the club will provide a new medical report once the intervention is over.
Eric Garcia received a yellow card in the win over Celta de Vigo (3-1) last Tuesday at the Camp Nou, which led to a suspension, so he was not going to play this weekend against Getafe.
However, this injury could also leave him out of the last LaLiga Santander game, on Sunday May 22 against Villarreal at the Camp Nou. Eric Garcia has played 35 games this season in all competitions, 25 of them in LaLiga.
