Enric Mas: “The balance of the three days on the Tour is a little worse than I expected”

BARCELONA, 3 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The rider Enric Mas (Movistar Team) acknowledged this Sunday, after the third stage of the Tour de France, that his balance of the first days held in Denmark is “a little worse” than expected by the telephone team leader.

“The balance of these three days is a little worse than I expected with the second on loan in the time trial, but at least I’m happy because I’ve been able to save these two days quite well,” Mas said upon arriving at the first rest day of the Tour one minute and three seconds behind the Belgian Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma), the provisional leader of the general classification.

The Balearic left almost a minute in the initial time trial that kicked off the French round. Thus, Enric Mas yielded in the first stage and concluded the second and third with the first peloton.

“We have to try to have the best time possible and see how we face the race from then on. I see the rest of the favorites and their well-organized teams, but we have only been able to observe the rivals for two days,” explained the 27-year-old cyclist, who he finished the Tour fifth in 2020 and sixth in 2021.

“The first days in the mountains will give us information and we will know how each one is doing; little by little we will see where we can do damage. Apart from the seconds of the time trial, I leave Denmark quite satisfied,” he said.

Now, the cycling caravan will move from Denmark to France, the first rest day. The Tour will return to the streets next Tuesday. “I am sure that in Longwy and La Planche des Belles Filles we will see important things, but the crucial stage of those that come in the first week is that of the pavé”, he sentenced.
