MADRID, 8 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Aston Villa was eliminated from the FA Cup this Sunday in the third round after losing to Stevenage, a team from League Two (English fourth division), in a dramatic final (1-2), while Manchester City thrashed (4- 0) to Chelsea.
Unai Emery’s team suffered the bell of the oldest tournament in the world in this round, despite leading 1-0 in the 85th minute. The cup match at Villa Park choked then, when Dendoncker brought down Dean Campbell as the last defender and Jamie Reid made it 1-1. At 90′, Campbell himself made it 1-2.
Meanwhile, City, which will face Arsenal or Oxford United in the fourth round, defeated Chelsea in crisis as if it were just another day in the office. The Londoners barely appeared at the Etihad Stadium and have won one in the last eight games. Pep Guardiola’s team knocked down the capital team with much more comfort than three days ago at Stamford Bridge.
Mahrez, Julián Álvarez and Foden left Chelsea shivering with two goals in 15 minutes, and the fourth came at the end, Mahrez’s double, from a penalty. The poor performance of Graham Potter’s men left chants for the name of Thomas Tuchel, the European champion who was ousted by new owner Todd Boehly in September.
