Eibar and Real Oviedo started the LaLiga Hypermotion season with a win by beating Castellón (1-0) and Deportivo de La Coruña (0-1) by a narrow margin on Saturday in the first matchday.
After playing in last season’s promotion play-off just two months ago, Real Oviedo and Eibar resumed their fight for another chance to go up to the First Division with victories, with two goals in the first minutes of the season.
The Asturian team, who lost the final against Espanyol, took the lead at Riazor after five minutes thanks to Alberto del Moral, to win for the first time at the historic Coruña stadium. Javi Calleja’s men spoiled Deportivo’s return to the elite.
Meanwhile, Eibar beat Castellón thanks to Jon Bautista’s 1-0 after two minutes. The Basque team had to withstand the visitors’ good performance in Ipurua. In addition, the return of another historic team like Málaga ended with a 2-2 draw in Ferrol.
Racing had an inspired Jauregi, with a double, to frustrate the Andalusians on both occasions when they took the lead, with a great goal from Kevin Villodres and the 1-2 from Antonio Cordero.
