Colombian cyclist Egan Bernal, from Team INEOS-Grenadiers, continues with a “favorable evolution” after undergoing several operations after a training accident, with an “excellent result” from spinal surgery and with his lungs expanded again adequate.
“The treatment plan has focused on pain management and taking new diagnostic control images, which confirm the excellent result of spinal surgery. On the other hand, the lungs have re-expanded adequately,” the Clinic announced. University of La Sabana, where he is admitted, in a statement.

Bernal had to go through the operating room to undergo several operations, including “osteosynthesis of a right subtrochanteric comminuted femur fracture”, “osteosynthesis of an ipsilateral open fracture of the patella” and a “thoracostomy with drainage due to hemopneumothorax secondary to trauma thoracic”.
However, the most complicated came hours later, a thoracic spine surgery to reduce “a dislocation from level T5 to T6 with traumatic disc herniation”, an operation with an “excellent” result according to the medical team.
