Edy Tavares (Real Madrid) continues to win the award for Best Defender in the Endesa League

MADRID, 9 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid center Edy Tavares was chosen as Best Defender in the Endesa League for the fourth consecutive season, ahead of Unicaja players Alberto Díaz and Kameron Taylor, who finished in second and third position in the vote held this Thursday.

Tavares, leader in blocks with 1.7 per game, receives the award for the fourth year in a row after winning it in 2021, 2022 and 2023 as well. In the jury’s final vote he received 19 votes, compared to Alberto Díaz’s 14 and Kameron Taylor’s 5. Chima Moneke (Baskonia) and Facu Campazzo (Real Madrid) completed the ‘Top 5’, both with 3 votes.

After the first 32 rounds of the Endesa League have been played, Real Madrid’s ‘5’ leads, in addition to the top in blocks, the rebound ranking (7.1 per game) and occupies second position in the Plus/Minus ranking (+8, 7).

“This demonstrates his influence on the court, where his intimidation and defensive arts continue to be one of his main strengths,” the acb highlighted in a statement, after announcing Tavares’s ‘full’ award for Best Defender in the League.

A jury formed by the Radio Marca program ‘La Pizarra de Quintana’, the League champion coach Luis Casimiro, the journalist Jorge Quiroga, the former players and commentators Lucio Angulo and Javier Beirsen, the former players Anicet Lavodrama and Walter Herrmann and content creator Jordi Gálvez.
