Edgar González renews with Betis until 2025

BARCELONA, 29 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Betis central defender Edgar González has renewed his contract for two more seasons, until June 2025, with the Andalusian club, and has expressed his “joy” at continuing to “grow as a footballer” in a team that has played a total of 47 official matches since his arrival in the summer of 2018 at the Verdiblanco subsidiary.

“Since I arrived at Betis four years ago my dream was to reach the first team. This year I am enjoying the year we are doing with my participation. It is a renewal that I wanted to sign, I am happy at the club, in the city and with the trust they have given me”, expressed the Catalan after announcing the renewal of his contract.

In the video published by the club, Edgar highlighted the importance of ending the last stretch of the season with a special date marked on the calendar: the Copa del Rey final. “It’s what all our fans are thinking about, but inside the locker room we’re thinking about continuing to go game by game in LaLiga,” explained the central defender, who hopes to be “as high as possible” in the standings.

The 24-year-old footballer arrived at the Verdiblanca discipline in the summer of 2018 to join Betis Deportivo, and that same year he made his debut with the first team. In the 2019-2020 season, he alternated the Bético subsidiary with games with the first team.

After spending the 2020-2021 season on loan at Real Oviedo, Edgar returned to Heliopolis as a member of the first team. Since his debut, he has played a total of 47 official matches with Real Betis, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
