The conflict began on April 24 when six of the nine members of the FEF Board removed the presidency to Egas and they appointed their vice president, Jaime Estrada, in their place. The majority of clubs and associations asked the Secretary General of the FEF, the Argentine Gustavo Silikovich, to convene one Extraordinary Congress on May 1 to “know, analyze and resolve the actions of the Board”.
With the presence of 15 out of 26 clubs and 15 of the 22 associations Congress was held Extraordinary and ratified the removal of Egas and Estrada as president.
