Dylan Raiola comes to Nebraska. The No. 1 quarterback in 2024 leaves Georgia or becomes the program’s top prospect.

Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 quarterback in the Top247 rankings, has committed to Nebraska. This is a big deal because Raiola is a quarterback.

Raiola changed his mind after the late charge from Nebraska, he told ESPN on Monday. Raiola is now the most highly rated recruit in the history of the school.

Raiola quickly got pledges from three players and four colleges across the country. In May 2022, he made a promise to Ryan Day along with Ohio State. But after a year, he changed his mind and now plans to go to Georgia.

It was important to Matt Rhule that Raiola was taken care of as soon as he became the Nebraska coach. It is official that his dad, Dominic Raiola, was an All-American at Nebraska, and the team retired his number 54.

Following the firing of Scott Frost in 2022, Nebraska kept Donovan Raiola to be the offensive line coordinator under Rhule.

Nebraska kept talking to Raiola even after he had already committed to Georgia and was able to set up an official visit.

To be closer with the Bulldogs team, Raiola went to Georgia’s state-favorite Buford High School for his senior year.

As a junior in high school, he played for Jon Kitna, who used to be a quarterback in the NFL.

He threw for 2,819 yards, 34 touchdowns, with only one interception as a senior. His team went 11-2 and made it to the state playoffs. He had been to high school in Arizona and Texas before.

Andrew Ivins, head of scouting for 247Sports, wrote about Raiola, “a big-armed passer who has what it takes to be the center of an offense because he can sling it around the yard from the pocket or on the move.”

“The ability to drop the elbow while employing baseball-like angles to work around traffic has become certainly tantalizing, however regular release is equally impressive as he mirrors his two upper halves in a fluid, repeatable motion.”

Nebraska has promised to sign three-star quarterback Daniel Kaelin from Bellevue (Nebraska) West. Kaelin is from Nebraska. ESPN says that the Cornhuskers would continue to choose Kaelin even if they got Raiola.

With Raiola’s arrival, Nebraska now has the 19th best high school class in the country, one spot above Texas A&M. With 18 teams, the Big Ten has the sixth-best class in the country.

The two-time national winners had promised Dylan Raiola that he would join them. But with only two days to go, the best quarterback recruit has changed his mind and is no longer committed.

Raiola told ESPN on Monday that his decision has changed his mind and will now play for Nebraska instead of Georgia. This gives Nebraska one of the best recruits in the history of the school.

A few hours before Raiola’s decommitment, it was reported that Carson Beck, a junior quarterback at Georgia, would be returning to Athens over his senior year, even though there was talk that he might be picked up in the NFL draft.

The fact that Beck chose to come back for his senior year could have appeared to have an effect on the choice. That probably isn’t the case, though. Instead, it’s about what Raiola left behind.

Dominic Raiola, Raiola’s dad, served as an All-American offensive player for the Cornhuskers and then played in the NFL. Donovan Raiola, his uncle, is the offensive line coach that Nebraska right now.

Raiola told ESPN, “I really think Nebraska is in my blood.” “This is a great chance for me to be an element of something larger than myself.” Nebraska is a unique spot.

Since the 2016 Music City Bowl, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have failed to make it to a bowl game every year. This is a tough spot for them because they used to be a perennial national championship candidate.

But the Cornhuskers went 5-7 in their first year with Matt Rhule, who used to coach the Panthers. That was their best mark since 2019. Raiola clearly sees a chance to make the show better.
