Dreesen, CEO of Bayern: “We were going to present Kepa if he hadn’t decided to sign for Real Madrid”

MADRID, 13 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The CEO of Bayern Munich, Jan-Christian Dreesen, has assured that the Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was “very close” to signing for the German club “if he had not decided to sign for Real Madrid”.

“We were very close the day before yesterday. We wanted to have presented Kepa as a goalkeeper today if he hadn’t decided to sign for Real Madrid in the end. Kepa is Spanish, it’s normal for him to accept it,” Dreesen said during the official presentation of English striker Harry Kane.

Thus, the white club could announce in the next few hours the arrival of the 28-year-old Chelsea goalkeeper, who could join Chamartín on loan.

Bayern are looking for a new goalkeeper after Manuel Neuer’s return was delayed following a broken leg and last season’s starter Yann Sommer left for Inter Milan. At the moment, Sven Ulreich is the only experienced goalkeeper in the squad.

“I am convinced that we will find a solution before September 1. In Sven Ulreich we have a goalkeeper who is always there when needed. We are confident that Manuel will return in the course of the second half of the year, but we cannot predict it exactly. We look forward to coming up with a solution to the situation soon,” Dreesen said.
