Through an official statement issued by the firm, the designer reveals her decision to close this chapter, which began more than two decades ago, after the murder of her brother Gianni in 1997.

This change has not been entirely unexpected for information that already saw the light last week, when it was learned that the Italian Fashion Group was in advanced negotiations to acquire Versace, the luxury firm currently in the hands of the American conglomerate Capri Holdings. Donatella, who was a fundamental piece in the transformation of Versace into a global luxury and style emblem, expresses his gratitude and pride for the achievements. In the statement, he also highlights his confidence in the future of the brand and in his creative team, ensuring that he will always carry his brother Gianni in his heart.

Donatella’s ‘substitute’
The person who will occupy the position of creative director is Dario Vitale (47 years). The designer was, until the end of January, the Director of Design and Miu Miu brand image director, and his name already sounded among the candidates to hold the position of Donatella.
