We already have the date and time of the arrival of the emeritus to the Balearic island. It will be this Thursday at 2:40 p.m. Doña Sofía will land at the Palma airport and will do so accompanied by her inseparable sister Irene de Grecia, known in the family as Aunt Pecu, with whom she has enjoyed the summer break for decades.
In Marivent everything is ready for your arrival. Everything started last weekend, when the doors of the gardens, open to the public for three years, were closed. Throughout the week some maintenance tasks have been carried out (especially painting) and all the personnel required for the day-to-day work of the palace have already been incorporated, including Doña Sofía’s personal cook. Her luggage, in addition, has also been sent in advance, so the mother of King Felipe VI will find her clothes and personal belongings duly placed in her rooms.
It will be a special vacation for the emeritus, who has finally managed to bring the whole family together under the same roof. In the coming weeks, the arrival on the island of the Infanta Elena and her children, Froilán and Victoria Federica, as well as the Infanta Cristina and hers, Juan, Pablo, Miguel and Irene, are expected.
Felipe VI and Letizia will be the last to arrive. The king will do so on the 27th, while his wife and daughters, Leonor and Sofía, will land on the 29th. That same day the monarch is scheduled to visit the Real Club Náutico de Palma for the start of the Copa del Rey de Vela, while Queen Letizia will participate in the closing ceremony of the Atlántida Film Festival on the 30th. will take place, like last year, in the Marivent gardens.
