Doña Letizia makes magic with her first Paco Rabanne look: velvet, flat tops and a 'Mallorca' updo

The queen is making its debut. And what a premiere! After seeing it this Thursday on the birthday of the Infanta Elena with a modern and youthful outfit that included platform loafers (the latest among the millennials), Mrs. Letizia This Thursday she attended the closing of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union with a total look by Paco Rabanne that is an ode to elegance and good taste.

It is the first time that the consort wears the signature of the Gipuzkoan designer and the choice has been exquisite: a black velvet suit with a satin lapel and jewel details (buttons on the cuff and front). She has combined it with chaton earrings, made of white gold and diamonds, which belong to the lot known as 'passing jewels' because they are passed from queen to queen, as Queen Victoria Eugenia wrote in her will.

As accessories, Mrs. Letizia has chosen a discreet handbag signed by Magrit and low-heeled pumps, in black suede, by Nina Ricci.

Her beauty look also deserves a mention, as the queen has opted for a semi-formal updo with twisted strands whose shape was reminiscent of a large rose (or a Majorcan ensaimada, it depends on each person).

This Thursday, Mr. Felipe and Mrs. Letizia presided over the closing concert of the Spanish presidency of the Council of the European Union, by the National Orchestra and Choir of Spain, directed by Jordi Bernàcer and with the soloist María Toledo. The event took place at the National Music Auditorium in Madrid, where the Government's senior staff also met, from Pedro Sánchez, current president, to Nadia Calviño and Grande Marlaska, among others.
