Doña Letizia and her wonderful raspberry pink dress: the Queen debuts the Pantone color 2023, cheerful and optimistic

Powerful, strong, optimistic, exuberant and brave. It is the narrative of Viva Magenta 18-1750, the Pantone 2023 color, which will set the trend this year. It has been the star tone that Queen Letizia has chosen to preside, together with Felipe VI, the ceremony of the National Research Awards. It was this Wednesday, March 1, at Casa Mediterráneo, in the Old Station of Benalúa, Alicante.

The Kings Felipe VI and Letizia have traveled to Alicante to present these distinctions that recognize research in Spain and that also give a special mention for the first time to the Youth Research Awards, which have carried out relevant achievements throughout of their careers.

In this act the Queen has premiered a designed by Lola Li, creator of the acclaimed white tailor-made dress that Letizia wore at the Teatro Real in Madrid. The dress, with a false sash on the skirt for a silhouette effect, has a romantic-cut bodice with puffed sleeves and long cuffs. Wonder of dress and wonder of color. The accessories are in black. The shoes, classic pumps, are from Magrit.

One of those distinguished has been the biochemist and doctor in chemical sciences Mariano Barbacid, who has won the Santiago Ramón y Cajal National Research Award in biology. With his award, his contribution “in the field of molecular oncology” is recognized, in addition to his drive “in the development of cancer research in Spain and the training of a new generation of researchers.” Barbacid, AXA-CNIO Professor of Molecular Oncology, is director of the Experimental Oncology Group of the National Center for Oncology Research, in Madrid.
