Don Juan Carlos will not go through Zarzuela: the ‘punishment’ of Felipe VI and Pedro Sánchez

From London to Sanxenxo and then to Abu Dhabi. The emeritus has planned his new visit to Spain by heart and a visit to Zarzuela has been ruled out in his itinerary, something he did do last year, when he moved to Madrid after enjoying the regattas to meet with his son for two hours. Everything points to a ‘punishment’ from Moncloa and Casa Real, since none of them agreed with this new visit from Juan Carlosgiven the media uproar that it caused last time and that they were unable to control.

This is indicated by Juan Luis Galiacho, who has given new information about the trip of the emeritus to Sanxenxo: “On Tuesday, April 18, it will land in Galicia, at the Vigo airport, and on Sunday, after the regattas, it will leave again for Abu Dhabi.”

The ‘veto’ in Zarzuela (home of don Juan Carlos for 40 years) is not the only retaliation they have taken Pedro Sanchez and company against the emeritus: he will not attend the official coronation of Carlos III, on June 6, an event that will bring together all the heads of European Royal Houses and of which both Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía wanted to be part. From the Executive they have done everything possible to prevent the image of the four Spanish kings together that went around the world for the funeral of Isabel II from repeating itself. Finally, your invitation has been withdrawn. Carlos III has compensated the emeritus with a private lunch that he will enjoy just before coming to Spain.

According to people close to him, Juan Carlos has been patient with the demands of the Government and his son’s wishes regarding his ‘exile’ in Abu Dhabi and his presence in Spain. He does not want to harm the image of the institution that he now leads Philip VIBut neither does he want to spend the last years of his life alone and marginalized. He will return to Spain in a few days and will return later, regardless of who he may be: “While he has life left, while he is healthy and can navigate, that will never leave him. He has told them that he will return and that they will be haggling in Spain, in Sanxenxo, as long as he can and the forces allow it”Galiacho said.
