Don Juan Carlos reveals his plans for the future in the Wight regattas: “Go back to Spain to stay? Sure”

The World Sailing Championship starts on the Isle of Wight with the presence of the Spanish Rascal and a luxury crew member: Don Juan Carlos. At 85 he boasts of good physical shape after having lost 15 kilos to solve part of his mobility problems and this Friday he has participated in the first training session of the team in the best of spirits: “We have come to win.”

the father of king philip Silence and discretion have been left behind in Sanxenxo, where he receives instructions not to create too much of a fuss, and is showing his most friendly and relaxed face in the United Kingdom. She has even attended the press upon his arrival at the port: “Ward yourselves well because the sun in Marbella does not shine here”he told reporters. “There’s not much wind today, that’s fine.”

“The country king has returned,” they say around them. And it is that the emeritus is one more these days in the Bribón crew, where they adapted his seat for his comfort. After the sailing day, he arrived at the port with a splendid smile and participated in the applause of the team, congratulating everyone: “Bravo! Bravo!” His assistant, who was waiting for him with her trusty cane, has also offered him a hot thermos to warm him up and Don Juan Carlos has enjoyed his reward with pleasure. Going down, he has assured that the training had gone “very well” and has offered one of the headlines of the summer when one of the reporters asked if he would return to Spain to stay: “Sure”.

Not far away was his daughter Elena. The Infanta traveled to the Isle of Wight this Thursday to accompany her father, as she already did last August in Sanxenxo, and this Friday we have seen her following the Spanish training from the support ship. The king’s sister has become the best company for her father in this last stage of her life. “I am very well accompanied with my daughter and all my friends”has said.
