Dmitrovic and Oscar Rodriguez strengthen Leganés on their return to Primera

MADRID, 12 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Serbian goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic and midfielder Óscar Rodríguez will play for CD Leganés next season, after the club from the pepinero region reached an agreement with Sevilla FC, an entity to which AMOBS belongs, for them to be released from their respective commitments with the Nervion club.

Rodríguez, 26, has signed a two-year contract with the Madrid team, to which he returns after having played for the blue and white team between 2018 and 2020.

Raised in the Real Madrid youth system, the Madrid native made his debut with the white first team in November 2017 in a Copa del Rey match. In the summer of 2018 he joined Leganés on loan, making his debut in the First Division as a pepinero. In his first match as a starter, he scored one of the goals in the victory against FC Barcelona (2-1) and finished the season with four goals and four assists.

His good performances led Leganés to obtain his loan again the following season. In 2019-20, he became the team’s top scorer and the club’s all-time top-flight player. After finishing his second loan at Butarque, he was a full international for Spain, playing two Nations League matches against Germany and Ukraine.

After that, he was transferred to Sevilla FC, with whom he made his debut in that first campaign in the Champions League. The following year he played the first half of the season as a Sevilla player and ended up being loaned in the winter market to Getafe CF, while in 2022-23 he continued to accumulate matches and minutes in the First Division with RC Celta.

Last season, Óscar Rodríguez returned to Getafe on loan, playing in twenty-eight matches and scoring five goals. Now, the Los Navalmorales midfielder will join Borja Jiménez and will wear the number ‘7’ shirt.

For his part, Dmitrovic, 32 years old and who will wear the number ’13’ on his back, has signed for this 2024-25 season, with the option of a second. The Balkan native was trained in the youth categories of Red Star Belgrade, and, after passing through Hungarian Ujpest and British Charlton Athletic, he ended up in Spain with AD Alcorcón, where he was fundamental between 2015 and 2017.

He was later signed by SD Eibar and with the team he played more than 130 games in four seasons, in which, in addition to his saves, he scored a goal by converting a penalty in a match against Atlético de Madrid. In 2021 he became a Sevilla player, where he has played the last three seasons, winning the Europa League title in 2023 and also playing in the Champions League in the last campaign.

At international level, Dmitrovic has been capped at all levels by Serbia, making his debut with the senior national team in 2017, with which he has played nineteen matches. The new goalkeeper from Pepinero has two World Cup appearances under his belt, having been present at Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022.
