Djokovic explodes against criticism: “It is as if it were a witch hunt”

Novak Djokovic returned to training on Tuesday after completing two weeks of quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus during the Adria Tour dispute. The Serb, number one in the world, returned to the slopes with his compatriot Viktor Troicki, who was also infected during the tournament.

In statements collected by the Serbian portal Telegraf, Djokovic was very upset by the criticism he has received in recent weeks because of the Adria Tour and the positives in coronavirus from several players, including himself. “I only see very malicious criticism. I think there is something more behind the criticism, as if there was an agenda, as if it were a witch hunt. Someone has to fall, someone with a name, to be the main culprit of everything.”

In these same statements, Djokovic himself was again skeptical about whether he will play the US Open, although he has confirmed his presence in tournaments to be held in Europe. “I'm not sure if he'll play the US Open. I do plan to play in Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros in September.”
