COPENHAGEN, 29 Apr. (dpa/EP) –
Gert Ingebrigtsen, father of Norwegian athletes Jakob, Henrik and Filip Ingebrigtsen, has been accused of mistreating a member of his family, as announced by the police on Monday and reported by the ‘NTB’ news agency.
Gjert Ingebrigtsen’s lawyer said his client rejects the accusations. “He does not agree with the account of the facts on which the charges are based,” he asserted.
Henrik (33), Filip (31) and Jakob (23) accused their father, who was their long-time coach, of having been violent in their childhood in an opinion article published last year in the newspaper ‘Verdens Gang’ .
“We grew up with a father who was very aggressive and controlling and used physical violence and threats as part of our upbringing,” the brothers wrote at the time prompting police to launch an investigation into the 58-year-old man.
