Different Ways you Can Bet On Horse Racing

Horse racing is one of the oldest and longest-running sports in the world. However, one interesting fact about horse racing is about the number of fans versus the number of people who are into betting on it. Did you know that more people are into betting on horse races than those who are fans of the sport and who go to events? This proves that horse tracing is not only a big sport but also a big sport that bettors love to wager on.

If you are new to betting on horse races, one of the first things that you should learn is the different types of bets you can make in a game. First off, you should know that there are two main types of horse racing bets, each having their several sub-types. They are straight wagers and exotic wagers.

Straight wagers

Straight wagers are types of wagers where you can only place your bet on one horse out of all the participating horses in the game. From this main type, there are several sub-types on how you can place a straight wager. These include:

Win

This is the simplest and the most common bet you can make in a horse racing game. Most newbies go and make this bet, too. In this, you simply bet on which horse you think would win the race.

Place

If you think your preferred horse is not set to win the race, then you can still bet on it using a place bet. This bet will have you pick your preferred horse, and you bet on whether they place second or third.

Show

Similar to a place bet, a show bet will have you bet on whether your preferred horse would place between first, second, or third. Since you have a bigger margin of winning this bet, show best often yield smaller profits than other bet types.

Across the board

Also sometimes called the ‘combo straight wager,” betting across the board means that you bet on a single horse to all win, place, and show.

Exotic wagers

If straight wagers only allow you to place your bet on a single horse, exotic wagers allow you to place a bet on multiple horses that are participating in the game. Some of the most common types of exotic wagers include:

Exacta

In an exacta bet, you get to choose to horses that you think would the first and second places. As its name implies, an exacta bet would require you to predict the finishing position of the two horses that you picked in the exact order.

Quinella

A quinella bet is similar to an exacta bet in the way that you also get to pick two horses that you think would win first and second places. This time, though, the horses you picked can finish the race in any order and you would still win the bet.

Trifecta

If an exacta bet is not yet risky and daring for you, then a trifecta bet is something that you should try. In a trifecta bet, you get to pick three different horses that you will predict to win, place in second, and place in third–and most of all, they must finish in the same order.

Superfecta

Now, if a trifecta bet is not yet enough of as risk and a challenge for you, try making a superfecta bet. In this complex type of an exotic bet, you get to pick four horses that you would predict to place first to fourth–and they must finish all in the same order. Since a superfecta bet is a bit trickier to win, this type of bet usually yields a bigger profit.
